A Beautiful Balkan Wedding ♥
Our friends Davo (from Bulgaria) and Klimentina (from Macedonia) were married in a beautiful park in Queens last weekend, followed by an epic carousel ride and a festive night of dancing like well-dressed nut jobs on the deck of a decked-out boat. If you’ve ever seen the movie Black Cat White Cat, it was incredibly close to that!
I adore weddings, especially festive ones where the bride, groom and guests are invited to be themselves and forgo excessive generic protocol. They did exactly that, and everyone had an amazing time. Best of all, the whole day (and night) represented them as a couple. Here are some shots from the simple, beautiful ceremony and reception.
I don’t remember the last time I was on a carousel—they go really fast!
Raffa looking like a super sexy super hero…or villian?
Mother & groom, first dance… amazing!
The bride made a point to me during the after party that had they been in their home countries, their parents and themselves would have spent most of the wedding greeting massive numbers of guests. With this intimate affair, however, they could mingle with everyone and dance the night away without a care.
Food for thought, brides-to-be! ;}
Okay, back to packing and stressing over my to-do list. Peru tomorrow! AAH!
P.S. If you’re traveling any time soon, check out the stylish travel tips some of my jet set gal pals imparted upon me yesterday! I’ll be employing these as I pack tonight.
