BCBG Max Azria & Doo.Ri

February 21, 2011

I know, even I’m sick of seeing “NYFW” anywhere, and I can’t even begin to get excited about global fashion week after the energy-drink-pounding model-marching, Waris-chasing circus that occurred from the 9th to the 17th of February. But no one can deny how much fun it is while it’s happening, and I made a point to take as many photos as possible so that chaos can live on in blog form.

BCBG Max Azria reminded me more of an enormous sporting event than a fashion show… So. Many. People. Can you spot some celebs in the crowd below?

The collection was a sheer, paneled study in neo-nomadic, chic-futurism over white turtlenecks. There was fur, there were long sheer black skirts trailing under color blocked new-age knit gowns, low slung waists, and flawlessly polished silhouettes despite the layer count in some of the looks.

At Doo.Ri on Friday, February 11th. I sat behind Bryan Boy and I’m not really a hater or anything, but he wore a curly afro wig that cut a few inches off anyone’s line of vision positioned behind the atrocity. When I tweeted at him with mild frustration, it only amused him.

(And in case you’re wondering the humor of tweeting at someone who is sitting in front of you at a fashion show is not lost on me! Oh fashion world.)

Here are Preetma’s nails. She’s a lawyer-turned-fashion-journalist/editorial contributor to R29 who basically dominated every street style website this season. We had a great time cracking immature jokes (mostly born of exhaustion… you know how everything suddenly becomes hysterical?) before/after the show.

The collection itself was very elegant—the knits were abstract-botanical and it was sexy but with an excess of fabric and thick trims dangling and roped around the figure. There were macramé-paneled dresses towards the end of the lineup that brought together her aesthetic and the idea of goddess-like omni-presence, which was only reinforced by the serene (or maybe drab) color scheme.

After the show, the Facehunter was hunting Preetma like a honey badger (a cuter, less lethal, of course), he follows my twitter account now, how cool is that?). Here’s a scene from their photo shoot.

And the shot that made Refinery29’s photo of the day… still laughing over this, he was shooting her purse from the back and just happened to be in this insanely awkward pose, with that odd little smirk on his face.

More on the way, if I’m still sitting up straight by tomorrow!
