Fashion’s Night Out

September 4, 2010

I had an amazing dream last night that I was wandering a digital suburbia rendered in awful ’90s computer graphics when I opened a door and found myself inside some alternative universe full of mystical creatures (a silver-haired deer, a bull-headed something-or-other, a silk scarf that could speak) who had been waiting for me to find them.

I woke up in a complete daze and wondered if these were manifestations of some underlying creative realm that’s swirling in my head. I want to go back to that place!

Anyhow, New York Fashion Week is coming! And with that comes Fashion’s Night Out, a hyped-up but still extremely fun consumer and celebrity-driven event that promises lots of things to talk about on social media.

Here are a few events I’ll be at…

Refinery29‘s Diane von Furstenberg party at DVF, 874 Washington St. This party is a grand celebration of tech-meets-fashion (geek-meets-chic, oh my God, I had to write it) and also being inside a building with pink-lit windows. Celebrities, DJs, forward thinking and well-dressing.

Behati Prinsloo’s debut photo exhibition at the Fratelli Rossetti Madison Ave boutique. Behati has been one of my favorite gazelles since I met her in the Milly design studio once upon a NYFW. Having a gorgeous face, amazing name (seriously), inspiring interior decorating sense, and a smoking camera in her hand obviously fed by adoration. Can’t wait to see this exhibition.

Q Model Management Fashion Week Party. Covet – East 55th btw Lexington Ave & 3rd. Nothing like some good old fashion bottles & models to wash down the madness that is bound to occur on the 10th. Likely to be overrun with the newest recruit of fashion school sprites for Fall, but now that I’m no longer a bitter fashion student, I’m willing to relish in that atmosphere again!

And my wallet will be attending this more than I will, but Chanel’s new nail polish shades are hitting the internet and the shelves on FNO, and obviously they are already setting the standard for fingertips this fall. $25 bucks a pop, well-spent. Or, to be spent.

I’ll also be covering some NYFW shows for my editor at Refinery29 once the cat walks start up. I can’t wait to jump back into the chaos! It’s been a full year since I covered shows on-site.

Until then…
