Not to impose a doll-parts theme…

July 17, 2010

…but this was too cool to pass up. Margaux Lange may have some deep-rooted issues with America’s favorite doll, but it seems to have resulted in some awesome accessory design. She creates both mass produced and one-of-a-kind jewelry created from Barbie doll parts. The dolls are sliced up and re-worked with metals to create pieces that range from clever and charming (see the “The Kiss with heart” necklace) to the completely bizarre (check out the “Winged Arm Neckpiece”).

Here are a few of my favorites – you can see all of them, including the mass production line, here. Margaux also has a blog and an Etsy shop. There’s definitely potential for the one-off’s to explode. I can see Lady Gaga and some other high-profile ladies wanting their own custom dismembered Barbie body-decor.

It’s interesting that even in pieces, these iconic body parts are undoubtedly Barbie .
