New Moon

February 10, 2010

Big news, babes! Running until march 6th at the MyPlasticHeart NYC gallery (in the LES) is the second installment of the “interpretations of the Chinese zodiac” exhibition, New Moon. I stopped by the opening reception to check out some work by an artist I’ve been following for a few years, Yumiko Kayukawa. I am completely in love with her work.

The exhibition was comprised of saturated, animated characters in the form of brush stroke, collage, figurines, and graphic design, all with the kind of provocative imagery that summarizes a growing obsession with toy design and cartoon surrealism in the art world.

Yumiko totally killed it though.

Some of Yumiko’s work, and her official site.
